ADVANCED CRYSTALS AND BEYOND

Setting new standards, our innovative lead-free, cadmium-free*, chrome IV-free, and arsenic-free crystals formula** allows our clients to achieve full compliance with current international laws, and regulations governing restricted substances in finished products for numerous segments.

Clear Program

Our Restricted Substance program, CLEAR, mandates us to systematically manage, restrict, and eliminate harmful chemicals from our products and supply chain. It’s a mandatory standard for all product development and obligatory for our global manufacturing network. REACH, the EU’s chemical compliance initiative is fully integrated into CLEAR.

Initiatives with sustainability in mind

Herboren kristallen

Wij streven ernaar om onze ongebruikte kristalcomponenten waar mogelijk nieuw leven in te blazen, en we werken samen met toonaangevende academische instellingen om deze kostbare materialen een tweede leven te geven door de verbeelding van toekomstige ontwerpers. Onze samenwerkingen bevorderen innovatief denken dat herdefinieert hoe we verantwoordelijk creëren, hergebruiken en ontwerpen. Elk project weerspiegelt een toewijding aan duurzaamheid: bestaande grondstoffen transformeren in hedendaagse uitingen van creativiteit en doel.

Gerecyclede metalen

Gerecyclede metalen worden verkregen door gebruikte metalen opnieuw te verwerken tot een nieuw materiaal, zonder dat dit ten koste gaat van de kwaliteit. Dit proces, waarbij grondstoffen hergebruikt worden in plaats van nieuwe grondstoffen te verbruiken en de CO2-uitstoot lager is (er wordt minder energie verbruikt bij het opnieuw smelten van metalen dan bij het delven ervan), heeft grote voordelen op milieugebied. Daarom streven we ernaar om tegen 2030 al onze metalen op een verantwoorde en gerecyclede wijze te verkrijgen.

TCF™-kristalkleuringstechnologie

Onze eigen gepatenteerde TCF™-kristalkleuringstechnologie vertegenwoordigt een meer verantwoorde benadering vergeleken met onze standaard kristalkleuring door een kleinere ecologische voetafdruk in het gebruik van grondstoffen, mineralen en metalen. Op basis van een cradle-to-gate ISO 14040-conforme levenscyclusanalyse met de EU-PEF-methode, tonen TCF™-kleuren duidelijke verbeteringen ten opzichte van conventionele processen. Zo bereikt de nieuwe Dark Orange TCF™-kleur een 38% kleinere algehele ecologische voetafdruk.

Swarovski ReCreated™-kristallen

Swarovski ReCreated™-kristallen zijn Swarovski's duurzaamste kristallen tot nu toe. Het belangrijkste element van de innovatie is het gebruik van gebroken kristalglas* uit het productieproces bij de productie van Swarovski ReCreated™-kristallen. Hierdoor hoeven we minimaal 40% minder nieuwe grondstoffen te gebruiken** en is de impact op het milieu minimaal 34% lager ten opzichte van standaard Swarovski-kristallen.

Swarovski Zirkonia gemaakt met hernieuwbare energie

Sinds 2023 bieden we Swarovski Zirkonia met een verlaagd koolstofgehalte aan, geproduceerd met hernieuwbare elektriciteit tijdens de meest energie-intensieve fase van de productie. Als gevolg hiervan komt 77% van de elektriciteit die wordt gebruikt voor de productie van onze Swarovski Zirkonia uit hernieuwbare bronnen. Deze vereiste vermindert de cradle-to-gate koolstofemissies met minimaal 55% in vergelijking met zirkonia geproduceerd zonder hernieuwbare energie.

Achtergrondinformatie voor ReCreatedTM

*Berekeningen zijn gebaseerd op de LCA van kristalglas dat voldoet aan de ISO-norm. In de berekening wordt kristalglas van 100% nieuwe grondstoffen vergeleken met kristalglas van 50% gebroken glas/50% nieuwe grondstoffen. De LCA neemt de gehele waardeketen mee (fabriekspoort, geen distributie). De minimale hoeveelheid gebroken glas bedraagt 50%. Hierdoor is de impact op het milieu (minimaal) 34% lager. Bij de impact op het milieu worden alle 16 milieu-indicatoren van de ISO 14040 meegenomen.

** ‘Natuurlijke grondstoffen’, en dan vooral ‘gebruik/uitputting van grondstoffen (mineralen en metalen)’ is
een van de 16 milieu-indicatoren van de LCA van kristalglas dat voldoet aan de ISO-norm. Deze indicator
heeft de grootste impact (van de 16), als we nieuwe grondstoffen vervangen door (secundair)
gebroken glas.
