*Calculations are based on ISO compliant crystal glass LCA. Calculation compares crystal glass of 100% raw material with crystal glass of 50% glass breakage/50% raw material. LCA is cradle to gate (factory gate, no distribution). The minimum glass breakage is 50%. This leads to the (minimum) 34% lower environmental footprint. The environmental footprint takes into account all 16 environmental indicators of the ISO 14040.
** “Natural resources”, more specifically “resource use/depletion (minerals and metals)” is
one of the 16 environmental indicators of the ISO compliant crystal glass LCA. This indicator
has the highest impact (of the 16), as we replace virgin raw material with (secondary) glass
breakage.
