Gouldamadinen werden seit langem für ihre atemberaubenden Regenbogenfedern bewundert. In der Wildnis existieren zwar unterschiedliche Farbkombinationen, aber die Köpfe dieser Prachtfinken machen sie zu einem einzigartigen Blickfang. Die meisten Gouldamadinen haben schwarze Köpfe, aber halten Sie die Augen offen, denn etwa ein Drittel der Vögel hat einen roten Kopf und ein weiterer kleinerer Teil sogar einen gelben oder orangen.

Red-headed males, for example, are the most competitive and dominant, while female finches can even control the sex of their offspring, depending on which male head color they choose.
