It’s a mandatory standard for all product development and obligatory for our global manufacturing network. REACH, the EU’s chemical compliance initiative is fully integrated into CLEAR.
Initiatives with sustainability in mind

Reignited Crystals

We aim to reignite our unused crystal components whenever possible, and we collaborate with leading academic institutions to give these precious materials a second life through the imagination of future designers. Our partnerships nurture innovative thinking that redefines how we create, reuse, and design responsibly. Each project reflects a commitment to sustainability – transforming pre-existing resources into contemporary expressions of creativity and purpose.

Recycled Metals

Recycled metals are derived from used metals which are reprocessed to create a new material, without compromising on quality. With major environmental advantages – reutilizing precious resources instead of using raw materials and creating lower Co2 emissions (less energy required to remelt metals than mine) – we aim to source all of our metals from responsibly managed and recycled sources by 2030.

TCF™ crystals coloring technology

Our own patented TCF™ crystal coloring technology represents a more responsible approach compared to our standard crystal coloration with a lower environmental footprint in resource use, minerals, and metals. Based on a cradle-to-gate ISO 14040-conform Life Cycle Assessment using the EU-PEF method, TCF™ colors show clear improvements over conventional processes. For example, the new Dark Orange TCF™ color achieves a 38% lower overall environmental footprint.

Swarovski ReCreated™ Crystals

Swarovski ReCreated™ crystals are Swarovski's most sustainable crystals to date. The innovation lies in utilizing crystal glass breakage* from the manufacturing process in the production of Swarovski ReCreated™ crystals. This results in a reduction of at least 40% in natural resource usage ** and a decrease of at least 34% in the environmental footprint compared to standard Swarovski crystals.

Swarovski Zirconia made with renewable energy

Since 2023, we have been offering carbon-reduced Swarovski Zirconia, created using renewable electricity for the most energy-intensive stage of processing. As a result, 77% of the electricity used for the production of our Swarovski Zirconia comes from renewable sources. This requirement cuts cradle-to-gate carbon emissions by at least 55% compared to zirconia produced without renewable energy.

Applications

Swarovski’s know-how goes far beyond precision-cut crystals, it also explores methods that make the incredible pieces possible. Sewing, Hotfix, Beading, Casting and Gluing are just some of the techniques used to create exquisite and expressive statements.
