Illuminating Fashion’s Biggest Night Out

adut akech

Regal Opulence

Echoing the grandeur of the Swarovski Swan, Adut Akech’s hand-made ensemble paired a gilet-inspired mini dress with a dramatic floor-length tailcoat. Channeling the power of pink, the look leaned into extravagance and Adut’s youthful allure in its accessories, teaming over-ear cuffs from the to-be-released Swarovski Vienna collection with a statement collar featuring Pointiage™-encrusted feathers in a degrade pattern, crafted from 25,550 Swarovski Crystals applied by a team of four over 145 hours.

Giovanna engelbert

Modern Artistry

Conceptualizing a personal interpretation of this year’s dress code, ‘Tailored for You’, Swarovski Global Creative Director, Giovanna Engelbert, embodied the theme in a perfectly tailored, three-piece pant suit. Individual yet influenced by classic craftsmanship and the essence of dandyism, the suit included a ode to the Swarovski Swan with embroidered feathers adorning the ensemble to create a sense of motion. The finishing touch was a custom feather and bow choker featuring 1,800 Swarovski Zirconia stones which took four people over 240 hours to construct.

sora choi

Graceful Contrast

Sora Choi’s dreamy all-blue outfit blended sharp tailoring with romantic flourishes. Her formal dress coat was cut to flow into a balletic, swan-like skirt, serving as a nod to Sora’s punk edge and inner strength. The headpiece and belt commanded attention, capturing the tension between soft and strong with metallic crystallized feathers intertwined with hand-crafted organza feathers. The belt featured 16,300 Swarovski Zirconia stones and took 70 hours to create, while the feather headpiece shone with 12,600 Swarovski Zirconia stones applied over 50 hours.

The Making of the Met Gala Couture Looks

Ideas and Inspiration

Title:
It all starts with a sketch. Swarovski Global Creative Director, Giovanna Engelbert, fuses Swarovski’s 130 years of joy and savoir-faire with the Met Gala’s annual theme.

Celebrating Craftsmanship

Title:
Honoring traditional tailoring codes to create striking silhouettes, each of the four looks combined House colors with hundreds of thousands of precision-cut Swarovski Crystals.

Works of Art

The Swarovski Crystals embellishing each couture creation were applied like brushstrokes on canvas. Hand-sketched by Engelbert, the result is a painterly effect inspired by the historic Schönbrunn Palace that adds depth, movement, and texture.

Delight in the Details

Title:
Each look was embroidered by Parisian haute couture ateliers, Lesage and Baqué Molinié, completed with full-length monochromatic tailcoats and custom Manolo Blahnik footwear.
