Gouldian Finches have long been prized for their showstopping cloak of rainbow feathers. While various colour combinations exist in the wild, it’s their heads that truly set them apart. The majority of the birds have black heads, but keep your eyes peeled, as about one third are red-heads, with another tiny percentage in rare yellow or orange.

Many natural factors contribute to a Gouldian Finch’s colourful appearance – from the bird’s diet to illusions of light. To emulate that same richness, our crystal experts have employed their own special techniques. Gouldamadinen sehen zwar schön aus, aber Studien haben nachgewiesen, dass ihre unterschiedlichen Farben tatsächlich auf evolutionäre Vorteile, Überlebensstrategien und sogar Charaktereigenschaften zurückzuführen sind. Rotköpfige Männchen sind beispielsweise die wettbewerbsfähigsten und dominantesten, während die weiblichen Vögel sogar das Geschlecht ihrer Nachkommen bestimmen können, abhängig von der männlichen Kopffarbe, für die sie sich entscheiden.
