Illuminating Fashion’s Biggest Night Out
Swarovski’s 130-year heritage of artistry and savoir-faire was highlighted as the House presented at the Met Gala for the second year. Responding to the theme ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’ and dress code, ‘Tailored for You’, Global Creative Director, Giovanna Engelbert, imagined four one-of-a-kind couture looks that balance the defining characteristics of dandyism with the inherent grace of the House emblem, the Swarovski Swan. Worn by Engelbert and Friends of the House, Adut Aketch, Alex Consani, and Sora Choi, these elegant, theatrical, and fiercely individual looks reflected Swarovski’s joyful House colors and were completed by exquisitely crafted custom jewelry adding strength, structure, and shine.

Alex consani

Structured Elegance

Exuding elegance and a subtle sensuality, Alex Consani’s Swan White-inspired silhouette provided the ideal blank canvas for golden yellow crystal embroidery. The two-piece skirt and jacket set spoke to Alex’s strength and timeless sense of style, reimagining a tailored suit complete with a one-of-a-kind jewelry-revere. Seamlessly integrated into the suit, this hand-crafted piece featured 18,400 Swarovski Crystals and was created by a team of  15 artisans with expertise in traditional goldsmithing, stone setting, and tailoring techniques and required over 275 hours of craftsmanship.

adut akech

Regal Opulence

Echoing the grandeur of the Swarovski Swan, Adut Akech’s hand-made ensemble paired a gilet-inspired mini dress with a dramatic floor-length tailcoat. Channeling the power of pink, the look leaned into extravagance and Adut’s youthful allure in its accessories, teaming over-ear cuffs from the to-be-released Swarovski Vienna collection with a statement collar featuring Pointiage™-encrusted feathers in a degrade pattern, crafted from 25,550 Swarovski Crystals applied by a team of four over 145 hours.

Giovanna engelbert

Artisanat moderne

It all starts with a sketch. Swarovski Global Creative Director, Giovanna Engelbert, fuses Swarovski’s 130 years of joy and savoir-faire with the Met Gala’s annual theme.

Celebrating Craftsmanship

Title:
Honoring traditional tailoring codes to create striking silhouettes, each of the four looks combined House colors with hundreds of thousands of precision-cut Swarovski Crystals.

Works of Art

The Swarovski Crystals embellishing each couture creation were applied like brushstrokes on canvas. Hand-sketched by Engelbert, the result is a painterly effect inspired by the historic Schönbrunn Palace that adds depth, movement, and texture.

Delight in the Details

Each look was embroidered by Parisian haute couture ateliers, Lesage and Baqué Molinié, completed with full-length monochromatic tailcoats and custom Manolo Blahnik footwear.
