Keeping the knowledge flowing

Good hygiene and sanitation have always been emphasized by the Swarovski Waterschool – an educational project, first established in 2000. But in 2020 the importance of handwashing took on even more significance as we all played our part to tackle Covid-19.
The current pandemic has brought with it many challenges, which have had major consequences for many of the Waterschool projects. Restrictions on gatherings have limited the reach of some of the Waterschool programs, while school closures meant activities in all seven countries had to cease.
But despite these issues, Swarovski Waterschool partners managed to find many new and innovative ways to continue spreading its message on the urgency and importance of preserving the world’s water resource.
We take a look at some of the admirable adaptability demonstrated by Swarovski Waterschool partners and find out how they’ve managed to keep educating children about the world’s most precious resource, during the pandemic.

Storie sull’acqua da ogni parte del mondo

In India, uno dei paesi più afflitti dal Covid-19, i docenti master Waterschool si sono serviti di WhatsApp per erogare la formazione sul coronavirus e l’impronta idrica. La chiusura delle scuole ha fornito l’occasione per perseverare nell’impegno volto a migliorare le infrastrutture idriche e l’igienizzazione nelle scuole mentre i bambini erano assenti.
In Austria, il tempo è stato sfruttato per meditare su nuove idee per i libri delle lezioni Waterschool e per aggiornarli. Inoltre, in autunno si sono svolti workshop degli insegnanti focalizzati sull’igiene, l’impronta idrica e le microplastiche. I workshop hanno riscosso un successo incredibile e i posti disponibili sono terminati in un paio di giorni: un nuovo record che testimonia l’importanza del messaggio della Waterschool.
Anche in Thailandia sono stati proposti workshop, che si sono occupati di igiene, igienizzazione e modalità per fabbricare autonomamente il sapone.
Infine, in Brasile (dove l’impatto del Covid-19 si è rivelato particolarmente pesante) è stato fornito un sostegno alle famiglie residenti in località remote. Per queste comunità sono stati forniti pacchi di generi alimentari, nell’intento di evitare che contraessero l’infezione recandosi periodicamente nella città più vicina per fare provviste.
