Subtitle:El río Misisipi es uno de los ríos más grandes del mundo. Atraviesa o bordea diez estados de Estados Unidos y ha tenido una función fundamental en el ámbito cultural, económico y social del continente norteamericano desde que sus habitantes lo habitan. Actualmente, el río sigue siendo el elemento vital de muchas comunidades de la zona, ya que sustenta la agricultura local, proporciona una fuente de agua potable y es básico para el transporte comercial y el comercio.
Era el lugar perfecto para poner en marcha, en 2016, el primer proyecto Waterschool de la Fundación Swarovski con sede en Estados Unidos, con el socio oficial National Great River Research and Education Center (NGRREC).
Program Waterschool USA
Title:Realizowany u zbiegu rzek Missisipi i Missouri program Waterschool USA opiera się na współpracy z lokalnymi społecznościami, której celem jest rozbudzenie na nowo w uczniach i nauczycielach poczucia jedności ze szlakami wodnymi regionu. Celem programu jest budowanie świadomości i zrozumienia współzależności między ludźmi żyjącymi na brzegach Missisipi i w obrębie jej zlewni a życiodajną rzeką, jak również wpływu zdrowego i dobrze funkcjonującego ekosystemu rzecznego na życie mieszkańców.
Promując dogłębne zrozumienie i docenianie istotnego wpływu rzeki na ekologię regionu dzięki szeregowi wciągających przedsięwzięć, program staje się również źródłem inspiracji do wprowadzania pozytywnych zmian oraz zachęca lokalne społeczności do odpowiedzialnego zaangażowania — z korzyścią nie tylko dla nich samych, ale także dla całego obszaru zlewiska.
Camp Waterschool
Title:Be a watershed ecologist
Subtitle:
Camp Waterschool offers students and their mentors the opportunity to spend a week immersed in the role of a watershed ecologist. During the camp, participants engage in a variety of science exploration and nature immersion activities such as water quality sampling, stream walks, storm drain stenciling, and river trips, as well as arts and crafts and outdoor adventures. These activities help foster critical thinking and a deeper commitment to conservation.
Educator Workshops
Title:Raise awareness of water and environment
Subtitle:
Each year, Waterschool USA organizes a series of educator workshops to equip teachers with the knowledge, tools, and resources necessary to integrate water-related topics into the curriculum. By building a bridge between classroom learning and community science initiatives, the workshops help spark student curiosity and raise awareness of water and environmental issues.

It’s not just those on the ground who have made a big impact. In the summer of 2023, Swarovski VIP members had the opportunity to bid on an extraordinary Elephant Hekima sculpture. The winning bid prompted a $15,000 donation – with all proceeds going directly to the Swarovski Foundation Waterschool program in the Mississippi watershed.
