My name is Daphné Postacioglu, I’m 30 and I am a Graphic Designer for the Swarovski style studio. My family background is French-Turkish and I’ve always been really strongly influenced by both cultures – it’s why I’m curious and open to anything! From an early age I was really interested in artistic roles, and especially anything related to brand design. I was naturally drawn to visual communication studies, before going on to work freelance for luxury brands. Two years ago, after a really exciting and stimulating stint with Vogue Turkey, I joined Swarovski.
My job is multifaceted, varied, and a bit hectic too! I constantly have to juggle with time. Whilst I am always looking ahead when I’m working on trends for coming seasons (sometimes almost a year and half in advance), my daily work is also strongly rooted in the here and now. I have to constantly keep an eye on what’s going on in the fashion and jewelry worlds. My role is essentially to be on the lookout for all new trends, developments, and phenomena that could support and reinforce our collections. My main tool is definitely the internet. I have to stay permanently connected, scouring window displays, runways, and red carpets all around the world to spot great trends, which I can then translate visually. I create the means to illustrate the trends for the season by highlighting the creations from our different studios.
What do I enjoy the most?
I love spotting trends today that come true tomorrow. The essential qualities for doing my job? A good eye and a curious mind for everything around you!
