Before the journey
I drink two bottles of coconut water, which is packed full of vitamins and minerals that will help keep me hydrated before the flight.
La vie en rose
Putting all our creams and liquids into plastic bottles is a necessary but joyless exercise. To add a touch of fun, I like to put my lotions and potions in fuchsia pink clear plastic bags (by Raja) and add a couple of Swarovski crystal chatons, which always makes for an interesting discussion with the Swiss customs officials!
I always make sure I wake up thirty minutes before the rest of the cabin so I can take advantage of this time to freshen up. When the cabin lights up, my eyes are already sparkling, my face is done, and my lipstick is perfect – I’ve got my Parisian chic back!
My jet lag trick
Once I’m on the plane, I always set my watch to the local time of whatever country I’m visiting and stop thinking and behaving as if I were in Paris. When I arrive, I have a massage at the hotel before going to bed to relax and reactivate my lymphatic circulation. For the first two nights I take a sleeping pill that stops me waking up during the night, and I always carry a tube of herbal Acerola tablets to chew on in the morning and at lunchtime to stop me feeling tired. But the smartest part of my strategy is booking the flight. When I fly to Asia, for example, I always book a night flight so that I can sleep on the plane and minimize my jet lag once I get there!
