Irina Volkonskii invites us to “let time live inside us” with this monumental patchwork made up of two thousand watches. Currently on show at the Swarovski stand in Baselworld*, this nomadic sculpture, made up of four separate panels, measures more than two meters high. The artist, with her fascination for Russian dolls, experimented with intertwining the miniature into the gigantic. The timepieces are brought together to create one single, enormous watch, full of captivating beauty. More used to gluing or sewing her work, it was screws and nails that Irina needed to cement her work in time for this piece. We took some photos to show the making of this magical piece of art.
*International trade show of the watch and jewelry industries that takes place every year in Basel, Switzerland.
