I left Manhattan to spend a day in Brooklyn. Williamsburg is where you will find true hipster-heaven (or hipster-hell, depending on your personal taste…)!My favorite stops:
NORBU (232A Bedford Avenue): Great jewelry pieces and small accessories. We fell in love with the tiny message bracelets and necklaces, the matte gold rings and bangles, and the tableware collection inspired by nature.
LE GRAND STRIP (197 Grand Street): What a beautiful and welcoming vintage store. Its friendly French-born owner, C.C. McGurr, has a great selection of sexy and seductive lingerie, feminine dresses, and impeccable coats and furs. You are even invited to open the cupboards and drawers to touch and try on the chic accessories.
ABOUT GLAMOUR (107A North 3rd Street): This fashion shop/vintage store/art gallery has you thinking you are in Tokyo! The mix of carefully selected, delicate items has that Daikanyama spirit that I just love! There are loads of vintage garments from Comme des Garçons, Yohji Yamamoto, and many others.
PERRY GARGANO (242 Grand Street): A true curiosity cabinet filled with handmade jewelry straight out of the workshop in the back of the store. A bit spooky and gothic… yet very refined and unique.
WILD GINGER (212 Bedford Avenue): A small and friendly pan-Asian vegan café with not a single trace of animal on the menu. Instead, they serve delicious tofu, udon and ramen noodles, as well as spicy vegetable stir-fries. My favorite food!
