A week in Asia: KOFUM, Seoul’s must-visit museum

25.06.2014 | It makes my day

As a new delve into Korean culture, I visited the highly exclusive Korea Furniture Museum. Visits must be booked in advance and only a small number of people are allowed entry per day in order to preserve the serene charm of this timeless place. It is an opportunity to drink in the exquisite silence that presides in the hanok, traditional Korean homes which house 500 pieces of furniture from a collection of 2,000 items. From the women’s quarters, you can take in the breathtaking view over the city. A chance to discover ingenious objects with ultra modern designs, such as this feather-light wooden box with a sliding cover, used to transport books easily. I have truly fallen in love with this extraordinary place!
