On January 1, after a very festive evening full of emotions and culinary delights, I like to have a slow, relaxing day to begin the year gently and to appease my mind and stomach! When I wake up, I drink a cleansing mix of fresh lemon juice, ginger, and hot water. I try and drink lots of fluids – coconut water, mint tea, lemon balm tea, and Japanese green tea – along with homemade soup of spinach, radish sprouts, cilantro, zucchini, and watercress. I also like to snack on goji berries throughout the day, a fantastic superfood that is rich in vitamins.
It’s a make-up-free day that begins with a long, hot bath, a homemade scrub of ground almonds mixed with one of my creams, followed by a divine Anne Semonin Mineral Mask. The objective: intense hydration! Baisers Infinis hydrating lip balm by Aïny, Aesop Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Eye Cream, and Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet. I completely cut myself off from the digital world for this timeless day. No schedule and no meetings, even with the family. It’s great to slip into the soft material of my loungewear, wrapped up in a cashmere shawl, and cozy up on the couch with a pile of magazines and its cover stars, the ideal accompaniment to this first day of the year, which should be filled with peace and calm. Sauna, massage – those will be for tomorrow to prolong the detox for as long as possible, once I manage to emerge from my comfy nest!
