Tinou le Joly Sénoville is a friend whose work I have always admired. I met her in the late nineties when, fresh from her degree in decorative arts, she was headhunted by trend forecasting agencies Li Edelkoort, Peclers Paris, and Promostyl (where I also worked). We hit it off immediately, both professionally and personally.
She truly is multitalented – illustrator, stylist, typographer, fashion and product designer, colorist, scenographer, board game creator, advertising designer, and artistic director. Tinou has the ability to express herself creatively through so many mediums – wood engraving, paper maché, and drawing with pencils or ink.
She has an infinite talent for bringing an image to life with an acid tone or unexpected vibrancy, sketching a beautiful model in just a few moments, or evoking children in her dreamlike world with touching figurative motifs.
Tinou’s artistic work is characterized by just the right balance between her different creative skills – her sense for color, compositional balance between emptiness and density, bold features, delicate details, elegant poses, and a touch of cheekiness. I always go to Tinou when creating a complex color scheme, or for narrative illustrations. Or even just to talk about art, life, and what we enjoy and are inspired by – an endless subject!
