My name is Julian, I’m 28, and I work as a Designer for the Men’s Collection with Swarovski.
I have always had a passion for sculpture and an unreserved love for rings, which I have always collected. When I did an internship with a design agency, I immediately knew I was made for jewelry design. The next logical step was to follow up my studies with a Masters degree at the École Boulle (school of art and design in Paris), before joining Swarovski in 2010.
My role is to infuse the trends of the moment into each collection, whilst upholding the genetics of the brand. I take inspiration from symbols with universal masculine connotations, such as bolts, claws, crosses, and razor blades. Depending on the mood of the season, I’ll combine our famous crystal with different materials and textures such as wood, leather, metal, or precious stones like onyx and hematite. The real challenge is to adapt the Swarovski sparkle to a male audience. Our iconic Revolution cut or the Carbon motif, which I complement with refined lines of Jet Hematite crystal, allow me to create an elegant yet discrete hint of sparkle.
What do I enjoy the most?
I love using 3D modeling to return to one of my first loves – sculpture. But more than anything, it’s being able to constantly reinvent the brand by creating new and exciting pieces each season!
