Swarovski dazzles at the biggest catwalk shows

Swarovski crystals add sparkle to Ideeen's new collection

Spring/Summer 2010 fashion is based on fluorescent colours, pastel shades and floaty, feminine shapes. The main colours are blue, yellow and pink. Organic forms, layered silhouettes and vintage style also play a key role. In terms of materials, designers have been working with silk, viscose and crystal.

Indeed, crystal features heavily in the new collections by Ideeen, Julian Louie, Jason Wu and Costello Tagliapietra, to name but a few…

Exotic inspiration and sunsetsSpring/Summer 2010 fashion breaks with tradition, experimenting with unconventional mixtures of materials and styles. Designers choose crystal because it transforms the colour, texture and even the interpretation of their creations.

Ideeen, by Japanese designers Junko Hirata and Atsuko Yanase, took inspiration from Africa for their first collaboration with Swarovski. “In Africa, decoration is symbolic”, says Yanase. “The CRYSTALLIZED™ Swarovski Elements were applied onto the fabric with a graphic aesthetic.”

Julian Louie’s collection features easy-to-wear pieces with a softer, less geometric silhouette partly inspired by sunsets. CRYSTALLIZED™ Swarovski Elements capture this theme perfectly with their impressive array of colours. “Crystal adds luxury and people are very responsive to it”, explains Louie.

All in all, the new season promises plenty of tantalising treats. Dazzlingly bright yellow is definitely going to be big. Swarovski’s exciting new Spring/Summer fashion collection captures all the latest trends perfectly. You will see it here first, so keep an eye on the website!
